NeuroClarity Dx. Find the treatable early.

Decision support for neurologists working up suspected ALS. It brings a patient’s records together, checks them against the diagnostic criteria and keeps treatable look-alikes in view until they’re ruled out.

The need

Where the work gets stuck.

About 15 conditions can look like ALS early on, and some of them are treatable. Once ALS is named, findings that don’t fit tend to get explained away. A full workup can run to 50 or more documents spread across health systems, and neurologists have minutes to make sense of them.

The work started with one family, after an ALS diagnosis didn’t match how the illness was behaving. Keeping the question open turned up a treatable condition. NeuroClarity Dx turns that process into a tool, so it doesn’t depend on a family having the time and stubbornness to do it themselves.

What we’re building

  1. 01

    Records in one place

EMG and nerve conduction reports, labs, imaging, genetic tests and clinical notes are uploaded, sorted by type and read for the findings that matter.

  2. 02

    Criteria scoring

Each case is scored against El Escorial, Gold Coast and a Bayesian model side by side. Findings that point away from ALS, like sensory symptoms or a response to immunotherapy, are flagged as soon as they appear.

  3. 03

    Literature and next steps

The system writes research questions for the case, searches the medical literature and suggests which test would add the most clarity next. Every conclusion links back to its evidence.

Review points

Where people approve the work.

  1. 01The neurologist makes every diagnostic call
  2. 02Every score and flag traces back to its source evidence
  3. 03Clinical experts review the criteria before any pilot

Progress

What’s changed so far.

  1. Latest: Oct 2026

Turning the method into a clinical decision support tool. Looking for clinical advisors and pilot sites.

  2. Feb 2026

Scope widened beyond ALS and the project became NeuroClarity Dx.

  3. Dec 2024

    Project started as ALS Clarity.
